🤔 How does it work?
- 🎓 4 week learning design first principles course. In this small cohort based course capped at 10 people, we will examine your existing education program from first principles. You’ll get feedback on your learning objectives, content, delivery, and system to scale.
- 👥 Continuous community. After the course, you will be a part of an engaged community of education leaders across various companies and organizations.
- ✍🏾 Weekly live workshops. In the community, there are weekly workshops with education leaders from companies like Notion, Khan Academy, and Google.
- 🤝 Monthly networking events. We have both online and in person networking events like cocktail hours. We are also planning our first learning design conference this year!
😱 Who is it for?
Learning design club has education leaders from prominent companies that deliver a great education to users like Notion, Bloomtech, Khan Academy, and Figma. This community is for the following:
- 📜 The Learning Designer. You actively develop learning objectives, content, and sometimes facilitate education for your company. Your title might be learning designer, instructional designer, or content developer.
- 🙆🏽♂️ The Education Program Manager. You are in charge of the education team or unit at your company. You are likely working across different departments. You are not only overseeing the development of the education but are actively developing a system and determining what education makes the most sense to develop. Your title might be program manager, director of education, vp of learning, or chief learning officer.
- 🙋🏽 Head of People. Learning and Development might be something that gone thrown into your list of responsibilities but you aren’t sure how to approach it because you haven’t been trained in education. You might be in charge of creating company off sites, developing promotion pathways, or finding external learning vendors for your company.
- 🚫 This is not for people who are solely facilitators who are not in charge of the instructional design. While we deeply cover adult facilitation techniques in the community, it is in the context of how you are designing your program.
🗓 What’s in the 4 week first principles course?
The course meets once a week for 90 minutes each time with additional weekly office hours hosted by Parth. Class meets Tuesdays from 4-5:30 pm EDT.
The purpose of this course is to examine and potentially redesign the education program you are in charge of from first principles. Here’s what we will do.
Schedule | Topic |
Week 1 - Sept 10th | Learning Objectives. We will go deep into what you want your student outcome to be and why. By the end of this week, you will rewrite your learning objectives with a lot more confidence. |
Week 2 - Sept 17th | Curriculum Design. Now, that we have our learning objectives, what’s the best way to build curriculum around it? You will learn to build curriculum quickly and iterate. |
Week 3 - Sept 24th | Facilitation. What’s the best way to teach your course? Often times, we mistake adults for serious people. More importantly, adults need to feel like you are not wasting their time. We will talk through and define the facilitation strategies to make your program as engaging as possible. |
Week 4 - Oct 1st | Data Collection and Tooling. One of the biggest mistakes I see in learning programs is that they are not smartly tracking data. There is better data to track than just surveys. How do you know your education had an impact? What’s the best way to track all the data you want to collect? You’ll define what you want to collect and learn to build systems to collect it with various tooling. |
👨🏾🏫 Who leads the community?
Parth has built his career on his ability to stand up quality education programs quickly through a variety of roles. He was a national award winning high school calculus teacher, the first instructional design lead and highest rated instructor at Bloomtech, a founding curriculum coach at Maven, the Head of Education at Teachable, and the Director of Education at Teamshares. In recognition of his roles, Parth has won the 2018 National Student Teacher of the Year and was awarded Forbes 30 under 30. Parth knows how to start, lead, and scale a live education program. Now, it’s time to build a community and share that knowledge with each other.
🙋🏽 How do you enroll?
We follow a simple two step enrollment process for our program:
- 🤝 15 min info session. Join a 15 minute info session to get a deeper dive into the program and whether it fits your specific goals.
